Only 6 magazines a year??

In the good old days, the English edition of Elektor used to be published 12 times a year, ie monthly.

Some years back this dropped to 10, with double issues for Summer and Winter (January & February). Fair enough, holidays need to be taken and the double issues usually are filled with quality articles and projects.

But in the last (January & February 2015) double edition it states that the next issue will also be a double edition. This is also refelected in the description on the website and on the inside cover of the magazine where it now states that Elektor is published as 6 double issues.

What is going on?

Elektor magazine never appeared 12 times a year as Christian writes. The traditional frequency was 11 times.

In 2015 Elektor's English edition is changing to bimonthly editions of 132 pages each. Compared to the previous 10-edition format there is no loss in the number of editorial pages readers get in a year volume. The Publisher's statement to that effect is in a letter enclosed with the March & April 2015 edition.
