Data Logger “deLuxe"

The topic on number crunching

Postby willmer » Fri Mar 07, 2008 12:00 am

Hi,
I have a doubt with the Firmware of the Data Logger, I am download the software (070745-11.Zif), when the compiler build proyect of the LOGGER-v1.01.C, the compiler MikroC it generate a file LOGGER-v1.01.Hex of 52KB, but the LOGGER-v1.01.Hex download of elektor web is of 92KB, I want to know why is the differents

hello , the hex file on elektor web server has been done like that :

1-the pic has been programmed with the mikroC bootloader C code (see sample in the mikroC sample file for bootloader )

2-the logger file .Hex (resulting of compilation of logger C source file ) is downloaded to the Pic using the bootlloader mikroC tool

3- at the very end , the pic is read with a hardware programmer and this file (logger-V1.01.hex) contains both the bootloader section code and logger section code ....
OK ?

Theres also something not quite right with the schematic.
The resistors on the sd/mmc connector seem to be reversed
R9,R7,R5 should I think be the 2K2
and R10, R8,R6 should be 3K3 this is the voltage divider for converting the 5v out of the pic into 3V for the SD card.
This circuit (as published in the online edition) has the 5v from the pic this will converted 5v to 2v for the sd card.

Also if you look at the foil pattern Fig 3 and Fig 2 for the project the resistors 5,7,8 are connected differently to the schematic on the foil the resistors are connected in line to the SD card socket then on the PIC pins RC5,RC4,RC3 are pulled down directly by Reistors R6,R8,R10.

It does'nt make sense.

Has anyone built the Data Logger “deLuxe” ? I have some troubles with saving the data: I got all displayed on the lcd as described in the article, i got also the txt-files with the right time on the sd-card, but the values displayed on the lcd (arround 610 for room temp.) are not saved on the card. I guess it is a software mistake somewhere, because i am using the genuine Elektor-pcb and i have seen no failure during burning the PIC.
I also wrote an email to the author and and described my failure on the German forum of Elektor, but my efforts remained without any help, maybe because nobody has built this device.

The lcd shows "INIT MEMORY FAIL SYSTEM STOPPED" when the card is not inserted, or not recognized.
And now about the settings: i don't think You we need to set something, the PIC's are not like ATmegas, the settings are in the hex-file, when You load the file You are autom. loading the settings too.

i get the some idea from this link

http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/storage/securedigital.htm

after this , SD =/= MMC card , so

i will first check it with SD card then reply to make it solution for others .

thank you !

I used different sd-cards with different storage-capabilities and all were ok, the txt-files with the right date and time and sample-number are saved, but not the measured values.
