off and on cycle timer

The topic on number crunching

Postby eddiec » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:00 am

Hi All,

I want to make a mains timer that keeps the load on for 5 minutes and then switches it off for 1 minute and then repeats the cycle continously. I also want the number of minutes and seconds counted inthe currrent cycle to be displayed in a LED timer.

I can't figure out the lowest level components that will allow me to do this. Do I need a microcontroller / microprocessor based system or is there something more basic I coudl use?

Thanks,

ec

Based on your requirement for it to display the time digitally, I think you probably do need to use a microcontroller.
