reversing the function of a bi-stabile relais

Title basically says it all

reversing the function of a bi-stabile relais

Postby beerfranken » Thu Jul 03, 2014 8:56 am

I have an old car with a simple on/off switch for activating or deactivating a cruise control.
The cruise control however is new and needs a pulse for switching it on and a pulse (same wire) for switching it off. (Presumably, the cruise control has a bi-stabile relais for powering it on and off, somewhere in the resin engulved electronics.)
So what I'm looking for is a simple set-up that creates one pulse when a switch is set to 'on' and another pulse when it is set to 'off'.
Are there any of-the-shelf solutions available? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to tackle this?

Hi beerfranken,

Assuming the pulse required by the cc is a simple short to common (you did not specify), the simplest solution would seem to be to replace the on/off switch with a momentary on pushbutton switch. ;)
