Connecting a trailer to the CAN Bus

Postby arigead » Sun Mar 02, 2014 12:00 am

I have developed CAN Bus Nodes based on the MCP2515 which are working in my test bed. Now it's time to transfer them to the real world, and I'd like some advice. I want to add a CAN Bus to one of my brother's tractors that's not a problem but I want to continue the Bus to a trailed harvester. It's basically like connecting to a trailer but wondering what is the best way of doing this.

I'm not sure if I can put a connector in the middle of the Tractor's Bus and then connect a spur out to the trailer. If that's the case should this trailer spur be terminated with a resistor as well. I should probably chase down the Standard for the physical layer of the CAN Bus.
